And on a healthy eating note!

Every time I make a trip to the grocery store, I spend money on overpriced containers of hummus. I was having cucumbers, baby carrots, and saltine crackers with some Tribe hummus as a snack after my bike ride…when I got to thinking…

I just bought myself a new blender so I can start making myself protein shakes. I realized I have two cans of chick peas sitting in my cabinet that I’ve been meaning to add to a salad but I just never ever do for whatever reason. The light went on in my head…

MAKE YOUR OWN HUMMUS!

So I did! Two cans of chick peas, 1/4 cup of extra virgin olive oil, 1/2 cup of water…and blended to a nice creamy perfection.  I made a lot of it so I figure every time I have a serving with my crackers or veggies..I can try it with different ingredients.  For instance, I could try to chop up some tomatoes and peppers…or I could add flaxseed, or..as shown in the picture.. I could have some spinach either blended in or served on top! I’m excited about this and I’m definitely going to be experimenting with some more fun home made snacks!

(p.s….I definitely ate more hummus tonight than any normal human being should. The  Tribe hummus on top of my homemade hummus..well, my taste-testing got a litttttttttttttle outta hand..no shame ;D )
